Humanitarian assistance provided so far by us
Since its inception on May 15, 2022, the Anirudh Charitable Trust has been proactive in reaching out to several needy people. Within a short span, it has lent a helping hand to individuals and families in distress. The following are some of the people whom we have helped with generous donations and support in kind extended by benevolent individuals like you who share our vision for realising a society that is free from want and pain.
These philanthropic activities will continue under the auspices of the Trust with the support of benefactors like you.
Health Beneficiaries
Swathi
26-year-old Swathi developed renal failure and was advised to undergo dialysis three times a week. Her parents are poor and were in debt, having borrowed money to meet the expenses of her education and the initial treatment of their only daughter. They approached The Anirudh Charitable Trust for help. Swathi’s mother came forward to donate her one kidney to save her daughter’s life. Thetrust accepted the responsibility of surgery for both the donor and donee and to meet the post- operative medical expenses for one year. After successful surgery at a reputed hospital in Mangalore on December 8, 2022, both mother and daughter are recuperating fast, thanks to the timely help extended by The Anirudh Charitable Trust.
Nagaraj Bhat
Coming from a lower middle-class family, Nagaraj met with a serious road accident, resulting in the amputation of one of his legs. Hospitalisation, surgery, and rehabilitation expenses were beyond the reach of the family. On humanitarian grounds, The Anirudh Charitable Trust has financially supported him.
Raja Poochi
Raja Poochi hails from the Kalvarayan Hills of Kallakurichidistrict of Tamil Nadu and belongs to a Scheduled Tribe. These tribal men are good tree climbers. They are in demand mostly in coffee estates to prune the branches of shade trees grown in the plantations. They are paid about Rs. 200 for a day’s labour in their native district. Attracted by higher wages of up to Rs. 800, they go to estates in Karnataka to cut the branches of tall trees. In one such engagement in Chikmagalur, Raja Poochi accidentally fell from a height of 30 feet and suffered a serious brachial artery injury and left distal fracture. Due to complications arising from it, he was moved to a hospital in Mangalore. The hospital and medical bills so far amount to nearly Rs. 2 lakh. On humanitarian grounds, The Anirudh Charitable Trust has extended financial support to him.
Janardhan Das
He was working as a city bus driver in Mangalore on a temporary basis without any perks. His bad days started with the onset of the COVID pandemic. Buses stopped plying and he was rendered jobless for more than a year. After about eight months of starting to work again, his health started deteriorating and he was diagnosed with blood cancer. The Anirudh Charitable Trust is extending financial help for his medical treatment.
Sathish Kumar
41-year-old Sathish Kumar, a native of Mangalore, is suffering from chronic kidney disease and is on regular hemodialysis. Recently, he was admitted with respiratory problems and diagnosed with LRTI with pneumonia. The Anirudh Charitable Trust is helping the family meet his treatment expenses.
Education Beneficiaries
Pournami Shetty
The daughter of uneducated parents, her father works as a helper in the kitchen of Kamath Caterers. Pournami is good in her studies and has secured 95% in SSLC and 90% in PUC. At present, she is studying in her first year of B.Com while simultaneously preparing for the CPT exam. She aspires to become a Chartered Accountant. The Anirudh Charitable Trust is financing her education.
Ali Amma
A native of Udupi-Uchila, she is doing a lab technician course in Udupi. She comes from a very poor family and her father works as a painter. The mother does beedi rolling at home. Four years ago, her father developed heart problems and is restricted from doing strenuous work. The Anirudh Charitable Trust is helping Ali Amma pursue her education.
Neha Dinakar Ail
She is studying in the third year of BCA. She is good in her studies and intends to do MCA. She recently lost her father, who was family’s lone breadwinner. The Anirudh Charitable Trust is lending a helping hand.
Prajwal
He is studying in his second year of B.Com and is also preparing for the CPT exam. His father, Janardan Das, is bedridden with blood cancer. Prajwal has one younger sister who is doing her PUC. Janardan Das was working as a city bus driver. When the buses stopped running for more than a year due to COVID lockdown, like many other drivers, he too was laid off without work or income. After a long shutdown, when the city buses resumed service, he got his job back. Unfortunately, within eight months, he was diagnosed with blood cancer and hospitalised. Poverty hit the family hard. Janardan’s wife, who was a housewife, was compelled to work as a housemaid. At present, she is working in two houses and earns Rs. 6,000 per month, which keeps the family going. The Anirudh Charitable Trust extends a helping hand to Janardan Das for his treatment and Prajwal for his studies.
Naisha N. Uchil
She is studying second PU. She is good in her studies and wants to do engineering in Computer Science. She lost her father two years ago. He was the family’s lone breadwinner. The Anirudh Charitable Trust helps in her education.
All the above candidates are studying at St. Aloysius College in Mangalore. In response to the request of our Trust, the college management reduced the fees of these three students by 50%. The balance of 50% is borne by The Anirudh Charitable Trust.
Fathima
Her parents are very poor and it is a hand-to-mouth situation for the family members. Fathima is in her second year of PUC and has two sisters studying in school. The Anirudh Charitable Trust finances her college fees and books.
